According to the Mehr correspondent, the international freestyle wrestling competitions of the Yashardogu Cup started yesterday in Istanbul with the 97 and 125 kg contenders, in the end of which Mohammad Hossein Mohammadian from our country won the gold medal in the 97 kg weight category.

Accordingly, the website of the World Wrestling Union praised the brilliance of Mohammad Hossein Mohammadian in the report on the events of the first day of this international tournament.

“Two men’s freestyle wrestling gold medals went to the top on Saturday, with Mohammad Hossein Mohammadian of Iran, an Iranian Olympic athlete in Tokyo and the holder of two gold medals in the rankings, winning for the first time since losing the Tokyo Olympics,” according to the World Union website. “He will return to the field successfully.”

This report also technically described the 97 kg final match between Mohammad Hassan Mohammadian and Jabrailov of Russia and called the performance of the Iranian representative remarkable and considered him worthy of winning his third gold medal in the ranking competitions.

According to the Mehr correspondent, Mohammad Hussain Mohammadian defeated Magomedserul Rahimov of Uzbekistan 11-0 in the first round yesterday. In the second round, he crossed the Mammad Ibragimov Dam in Kazakhstan 16-4 and advanced to the semifinals, where he defeated Mustafa Sessiz of Turkey 10-0. In the final match, Mohammadian crossed the barrier of world bronze medalist and European champion Alikhan Jabrailov 4: 3 in a close wrestling match against Russia and won the gold medal.
