Rigi and Faraji became finalists; The defeat of four Iranian representatives in the semi-final



According to IRNA, the first round of the international boxing tournament hosted by Kuwait in the men’s group, with the participation of 72 boxers from 22 countries, began on the evening of July 30 and will end tomorrow, Monday.

Iran has participated in this round of competitions with 6 representatives, and at the end of the semifinals, which was held this Sunday evening, Mustafa Rigi and Baqer Faraji deservedly qualified for the finals, and Sajjad Mohammadpour, Shahin Mousavi, Hossein Mirahmadi and Tofan Sharifi accepted the defeat against their opponents and settled for the bronze medal.

Our country’s 51 kg boxer Mustafa Rigi first fought against “Argunal Sabri” from Bulgaria to advance to the finals and advanced to the semi-finals with a 3:2 advantage over his strong opponent. In the semi-final stage, he faced “Mansour Mubarak” from Kuwait and won 5-0.

Baqer Faraji, the Iranian boxer weighing 63.5 kg, defeated the host’s representative “Hasan Al-Fathali” 5-0 to become a finalist in the first step. In the second fight, he fought with Yemen’s representative “Mowa al-Khamari” and defeated his opponent in a one-sided match to secure his bronze medal. Faraji defeated Yahya Sami from Iraq in the semi-final match and reached the final.

Sajjad Mohammadpour, a boxer weighing 57 kg, first faced “Biya Jokhadar” from Syria, who managed to finish the match in his favor, but in the semi-final stage, he faced “Sarawat Sukset” from Thailand, who lost the result and placed third. This period of competition stopped.

Our country’s 80 kg boxer Hossein Mirahmadi won the first match against “Rakean al-Taqfi” from Saudi Arabia, and in the second match, he faced “William Rosnov” from Bulgaria and won 4-1 against his opponent in a spectacular match. In the semi-final stage, he faced “Erkin Adelbek” from Kyrgyzstan, the holder of two bronze medals in Asia in 2019 and 2021, who lost the result 3:2 and won the bronze medal.

Shahin Mousavi, another representative of this weight, won the first fight against “Rhamando Halimulati” from China in a one-sided match, but in the semi-final, he lost to “Dilshudbek Rozmetov”, the runner-up of the 2019 world champion and 2021 Asian champion from Uzbekistan, and settled for the bronze medal.

Tofan Sharifi, a boxer weighing 92 kg, who had defeated “Rashid Mehrinfar” from Bahrain in the first fight, faced “Dyorbek Uralov” in the semi-final match, and he also lost and won the bronze medal.

On Monday evening and on the final day of the competition, Mustafa Rigi will face “Abdumagid Manopov” from Uzbekistan in the final match of 51 kg weight, and Baqer Faraji will fight with “Khonatip Pidnoch” from Thailand in the final of 63.5 kg weight.
