According to Tasnim news agency, Ricardo Sapinto, the Portuguese head coach of Esteghlal football team, said goodbye to Esteghlal fans in a message on his personal page today (Wednesday). In this way, Sapinto will not be the head coach of Esteghlal for the next season.
Sapinto’s message reads:
“Dear Esteghlal family,
Today I said goodbye to Esteghlal, a club that has become a second home. Our journey was accompanied by victories, the most important of which was our first Super Cup championship in the last 75 years. Our breath-taking football and formidable offensive line left a lasting legacy of selflessness and resilience, one that I hope the team will continue to build upon in the years to come.
However, I have faced challenges that can no longer be ignored, the disrespect of some opponents, the hardship of eight months without rewards (paying salaries) and the questionable decisions of referees, officials and the disciplinary committee.
Contrary to what is shown, I have not received or rejected a significant offer from the club. The bond of trust with board members has decreased. As a result, I decided to look for a different path.
As promised, I fought tirelessly for our team until the end. Unfortunately, this situation would require legal intervention to resolve, a step I never wanted to take. Please know, this decision is not a reflection of my feelings towards the club or its loyal fans. This is an action taken to correct a mistake and ensure justice.
I thank each and every one of you fans, players and supporters. Unfortunately, due to the current conditions of the club’s management, I find it impossible to continue working. This farewell is the result of serious reflection and recent events. I hope that in different circumstances we can unite once again for our wonderful club. Wishing success for independence; May it continue to soar until we meet again.
sincerely yours
Ricardo Sapinto”.
