According to IRNA, General Noman Gholami stated in a press conference that was held today, Tuesday, the first of December, on the occasion of the 26th edition of the World Military Taekwondo Championship (Sizm), that sports in the armed forces have a special place and importance, and according to the words of His Highness The leadership of using the military to bring pride in sports such as taekwondo has been emphasized and valuable actions and programs have been carried out.
Emphasizing that sports are an opportunity and capacity to convey the messages of the revolution, he noted: After the Second World War, the Sizm Military Sports Council was formed and the competitions of the world’s military forces in various disciplines were followed in the form of this council. Iran has always been active in these competitions and has participated in more than 400 events, of which it has hosted 40 events.
The commander of Afsari University, pointing out that Iran has an important history and position in these competitions, stated: This year, the IRGC will host the 26th World Taekwondo Championship (SEZM), with the participation of male and female athletes from 10 countries. It will be held in two sections, Kyorugi and Pomseh. These fights will be held from the 2nd to the 7th of December in the 12,000 seat hall of the Azadi sports complex in Tehran.
Sardar Gholami reminded: The reason for holding this international event in Iran is the background and history of the Islamic Republic of Iran in hosting. Before this, Iran has hosted Sizm Taekwondo competitions for three times.
He said about the guest and participating countries in this event: Kazakhstan, Pakistan, Russia, Slovenia, Nepal, Cameroon, Spain, Brazil, Oman and the Islamic Republic of Iran are participating in these competitions, among which Kazakhstan and Russia are the countries that Taekwondo has more ability and the national teams of these teams will be present in Tehran.
Sardar Gholami emphasized that the holding of this event and the presence of these teams shows the good position of the Islamic Republic, and added: 8 people from Iran will participate in the men’s and 8 women’s competitions, as well as in pomace (form). Also, 6 people from the men’s division will participate in the competition.
He pointed out that the Iranian team is ready for the world military taekwondo competitions with a good process and with the cooperation and support of the armed forces organizations. The members of the Iranian team have participated in the qualifying competitions and have had good camps for the past 2 months and have prepared themselves.
Sardar Gholami clarified: A very good technical staff has been selected from the armed forces and they accompany the team.
The executive officer of this tournament said about the opening ceremony of this international event: tomorrow, Wednesday at 10 am, the opening ceremony of this event will be held at Azadi Stadium with the presence of national and military personalities.
