Alireza Staki On Monday, in an interview with IRNA regarding the sending of 12 boxers to the Asian Championship and the absence of Daniyal Shahbakhsh’s name in the lineup, he said: Daniyal fought 2 fights against Mohammad Kamali at 60 kg and won both matches.
He added: Shahbakhsh was not in the national team camp for some time and was following up his training for professional competitions. The Asian Championship is very sensitive and after consulting with him, we decided not to send him and to give his place to Mohammad Kamali so that this young man can also play in the Asian Championship.
Staki said: We have important competitions such as the World Championship, Asian Games and Olympic quota ahead of us, and Shahbakhsh is an important pillar for boxing and sports in Iran. For this reason, he also agreed not to participate in the Asian Championship in order to prepare in the best way to participate in the next events so that he can defend his name and medal. Finally, I must say that he needed rest because he had been training hard for a long time.
The head coach of the national team explained about not sending the weight of 49 kg: In this weight, there are 2 young and promising boxers in the camp, but it is too early for them to go to the ring in an important event like the Asian Championship.
He said: “To determine the composition, we held various qualifying competitions and we had 2 joint camps with India and Iraq, and we are trying to get good results in the Asian Championship.”
The Asian Boxing Championship will be held from 10 to 21 November, hosted by Jordan and in the city of Amman.
