According to the decision of the technical staff of the national team, all the contenders, except for the seven freestyle medalists of the 2021 World Championships in Norway, must participate in the national championships. But one of the significant issues in this case is the weight change of some claimants, who seem to have to do it with the necessary coordination of the country’s championship competitions, if they intend to do so.
Also, the technical staff of the national freestyle wrestling team has emphasized to all claimants that being absent from the national championship means being eliminated from the selection cycle, so that Mohammad Ibrahim Emami, the spokesman of the Wrestling Federation, confirmed this news: The national championship is the first stage of the selection cycle. It is very important, and except for those who are exempt from these competitions, any wrestler who intends to wear the national team runner-up must participate in these competitions. In fact, according to Note 3 of the selection cycle, individuals who are not exempt from these competitions will be excluded from the selection cycle if they are absent.
According to the selection cycle, except for the first to third persons of the national championship, the first of whom is allowed to participate directly in the Asian championship and the next persons are also allowed to participate directly in the throne cup, the other persons who have not won medals in the national championship. They will be allowed to participate in the Takhti Cup qualifiers (March) and if they do not participate in these competitions, they will be excluded from the selection cycle.
