tandooriis an educational platform in the field of skills and creativity. The story of tandoori started from the story of the grandmother of the co-founders of tandoori, the story of a Kurdish speaking woman who was capable of many skills, she was famous in cooking and pastry making, and of course, she was familiar with carpet weaving, crocheting and sewing, and sometimes She wove things to give as gifts to her loved ones, regardless of her unique cooking skills and textures, she was a very good teacher, she taught all the recipes and various cooking techniques very carefully to her relatives and newlyweds, in weaving with patience and Very bored, he conveyed all the points very accurately to others. After her death, the vacuum of transferring her experience and practical training came into view, Saleh and Hamed Javaheri, the grandsons of this woman artist, began to research how and in what way our mothers used to learn these skills. And they reached a long-standing tradition that, like their grandmothers, there were and are grandmothers who used to pass on their experiences and skills to their children and relatives in exactly the same way, which is what made them seek to start a social network to connect people who have skills in the field of cooking and baking with those who are looking to learn those skills.
- Tell about the birth of Tandoori:
Well, the initial idea was formed to a certain extent, we had heard from our grandmother that in Iranian Kurdistan, before, a clay oven was used for cooking, which they put in a pit and prepared their food with firewood around it, and the name of this oven was “Tandoor”. and this is what made us decide to name our business “Tandori”.
Tandoori’s initial idea was defined in the summer of 2016 and its first version was published in the spring of 2017, over time and with more experience and market analysis and testing of different revenue models, we produced and offered the first series of training courses in the spring of 2019. And by carefully examining the behavior of the participants in the courses and the reasons for using each course, our focus changed from training to training to start a business.
Now, after about five years have passed since the start of Tandoori, Tandoori is currently a platform where different teachers can offer their skill-based training in Tandoori and students can easily participate in any course they are interested in. Take the first steps to start your home business with the user tools available in the tandoori product.
At Tandoori, we focus on generating income for different teachers and helping students to start their own independent businesses.
- How was your growth path?
So far, Tandoori has had three rounds of fundraising, the first two of which were from two angel investors and Persia Fund Investment Company, and we are currently looking for new fundraising.
Tandoori has experienced more than 50,000 registers and more than 10,000 course sales, and considering that Instagram was one of the main channels for selling Tandoori, after the recent disruptions, the revenue of Tandoori and, of course, the income of teachers who They have offered their courses in Tandoori and we are trying to create new channels for sales and generating income.
- Tell us about the effect of social network filtering and internet restriction on Tandoori:
From the beginning, Tandoori has pursued two important missions, firstly, helping teachers and skill holders to achieve a fair income and secondly, helping to facilitate and start up and grow home and independent businesses. In the teachers’ department, a serious damage was done, except for a few active teachers in tandoori, the income of other teachers has dropped a lot. During the 60 days that the social media space has taken a different direction and serious internet disruptions, the sales of tandoori courses have decreased by nearly 80%, and this has caused serious damage to the teachers’ income.
- How was it in the customer department?
There is no special difference in this sector either, according to our surveys, the income of these home businesses is close to zero. On the other hand, some of them are also on strike and refuse to accept new orders.
To help teachers, Tandoori plans to lower its commission next month so that teachers can earn more. The details of this plan will soon be posted on Tandoori’s website and other communication channels. Also, we have a plan called “Bazaarche” for the damaged home businesses, so that by building a website for free, we can provide additional traffic to these businesses with the help of our business partners, but also compensate some of their losses.
