The Indian team competed in the Tokyo Olympics with three wrestlers, with Ravi Kumar winning a silver medal in the 57kg category, Bajrang winning a bronze medal in the 65kg category and Ponya in the 86kg category finishing fifth.
Bajarang, a prominent Indian freestyle wrestler who, according to him, suffered a knee and hamstring injury before the Olympics, is also interested in participating in the Norwegian World Championships.
Doctors have told Bajrang after the Olympics that he will recover after six weeks of rest and he hopes to achieve the right conditions to compete before the World Championships.
If he recovers, he intends to ask the Indian Wrestling Federation to give him a chance to advance to the World Championships in Norway by winning the 65kg qualifier against Rohit.
The World Freestyle Wrestling Championships will be held from October 10 to 13 in Oslo, Norway.
