According to Mehr news agency, the country’s championship adult freestyle wrestling competition will be held as the first stage of the selection cycle for the national team on January 28-30 this year at Shahada Hall of the Seventh Tir in Tehran.
The conditions of these competitions are as follows:
1- Weights and age conditions of competitions:
Thea) Weight 57-61-65-70-74-79-86-92-97-125 kg.
b) Wrestlers over 18 years of age are allowed to participate in these competitions.
2- Conditions for participating in competitions:
a) Each province must participate in these competitions with a full team. The presence of all eligible people in these competitions is mandatory.
(It should be noted that only one team is placed in the team ranking and the points of the main team are calculated.)
Note: It is necessary to remember that in the national championships, due to the fact that some provinces have more than one quota in some weights, they should introduce the main members of their team before the lottery ceremony, and in the team ranking, they are determined based on the number of members. The points are announced and other people with quotas from the relevant provinces will not get points if they get a position.
3- The medal winners of the 2022 World Championships of Serbia are exempted from participating in these competitions. The presence of medal winners of the 2022 World Championships in Serbia who intend to change their weight is mandatory in these competitions, and those who are not exempted from these competitions will be removed from the selection cycle if they are absent.
4- The wrestlers who will be allowed to participate in the national championship competitions are as follows:
a) National team members who did not win a medal in the 2022 World Championships in Serbia, Iran’s medalists in the 2022 Asian Championship in Ulaanbaatar, Iran’s medalists in the Games of Islamic Countries, Iran’s medalists in the World Youth Championship, Iran’s medalists in the Under-23 World Championships year, Iran’s medalists in the world junior championships, gold medalists in the 2022 World Student Competitions in Turkey.
b) Wrestlers who are sent to competitions by the wrestling boards in the form of provincial teams (31 provinces) and free regions of Arvand, Kish and Qeshm.
5- Due to the fact that the provinces of Mazandaran, Tehran, and Lorestan have been represented in the 2022 World Championships of Serbia, in addition to a full team, these provinces will be awarded an excess quota as described below.
TheMazandaran province (12 quotas), Tehran province (8 quotas), Lorestan province (4 quotas).
a) Competitions will be held without weight divisions.
b) The matches will be held in three days on three mats.
J) The draw and schedule of matches will be according to the current regulations of the World Wrestling Federation.
d) The presence of all eligible people in these competitions is mandatory. If they do not participate, they will be removed from the selection cycle of the national team.
