This Sunday, Mehdi Khosravi in 54 kg weight, Sajjad Mohammadpour in 57 kg weight, Mohammad Kamali in 60 kg weight and Ashkan Rezaei in 63.5 kg weight, as the representatives of our country, faced their rivals in the quarter-final stage.
Based on this, Mehdi Khosravi fought in his second match with “Shakhzod Mozafarov” from Uzbekistan, the 2021 world youth champion in the weight of 54 kg, and lost 5-0 and was eliminated from the competition. In his first match, Khosravi was able to defeat “Rangsi Sao” from Cambodia with a score of 5-0.
Then Sajjad Mohammadpour went against the world runner-up “Abdul Malik Khalukov” from Uzbekistan in the weight of 57 kg and lost 5-0 and withdrew from the tournament.
In the third fight, Mohammad Kamali, who has replaced Iran’s boxing star Daniyal Shahbakhsh in the 60 kg category, entered the ring with an opponent from Mongolia. He had nothing to say in the first round and lost four to one, but in the second round he won four to one with a good performance. In the third round, it was the Mongolian boxer who showed a braver fight and was able to win the judges’ vote for superiority.
Tonight, Iran’s 63.5 kg boxer Ashkan Rezaei will face “Lai Chuen” from Chinese Taipei, and if he wins, he will confirm his bronze medal while advancing to the semi-finals. Rezaei has been to the ring twice in the Asian Championship, but he has not won a medal.
Tomorrow, the Iranian team has 6 representatives in the quarter-final stage.
