However, any decision regarding the termination or continuation of cooperation with the Croatian head coach of the national team will be at the discretion of the Football Federation’s Board of Directors, which should finalize its decision soon.
According to Ebrahim Ghasempour, a member and spokesperson of the Technical Committee of the Football Federation, the Football Federation is going to announce its final decision regarding the national team to use an Iranian or foreign coach in the next day or two. The technical committee announced its advisory opinions regarding Skocic’s successor to Mirshad Majdi, who attended the meeting online, and a decision in this regard will be made soon.
Due to the lack of time, the priority of the technical committee is to select an Iranian head coach to replace Dragan Skocic. Ali Daei is the first choice of the technical committee and it has been announced to the football federation that cooperation with this coach is a priority. In a way, a direct negotiation with Ali Daei has been put on the agenda of the federation, and it remains to be seen whether these negotiations will take place and yield results or not. Although it has been said that Ali Daei did not accept the offer of the head coach of the national team, no official offer was presented to him before the technical meeting, and it remains to be seen what decision he will make in this regard if Daei receives an official offer from the federation.
If the negotiations of the Football Federation with Ali Daei fail, the next option of the technical committee is for the head coach of Amir Qalanewi, who is currently in charge of Golgohar Sirjan. If the conditions of these two coaches are not available, Javad Nekonam is the other option raised in the meeting of the technical committee and so far he has less chance than the other two options.
Although some people believe in the presence of a great foreign coach on the bench of the national team in the World Cup, there have been talks about different foreign options in the meeting of the technical committee. Although the selection of a foreign coach was not the priority of the technical committee, some suggestions have been made in this regard. The interesting thing is that the technical option did not have any positive opinion on Carlos Queiroz and they rejected the presence of this coach on the bench of the national team, but Branko Ivankovic was one of the foreign options raised in the meeting of the technical committee.
