The head of the federation: the increase of 47,000 people in the judo population under the conditions of suspension and corona



Arash MirasmailiOn Monday, on the sidelines of the elections, the Chairman of the Central Judo Board in Arak, in an exclusive interview with IRNA, added: According to the Federation system, the country’s judo population was about 61,000 people in 2018, but now it has reached 108,000 people.

He stated: The effort to increase the population of judo as one of the Olympic arts should be taken into consideration, and the increase of more than 40 thousand people to the judo family is under suspension and corona, and the increase of 200 thousand people is also targeted.

The head of the Judo Federation continued: The election of the head of the central province judo board was held with a good alliance and with few margins, and the head of this board was elected for a period of four years with the majority of votes, and it is hoped that the elections of all provinces will be held as soon as possible and without margins.

Mirasmaili stated: During this period, Iran’s judo has been tried to reach a desirable level in terms of quantity, and this is one of the first goals and is being followed seriously.

He said: Under the conditions of suspension, memorandums of understanding were signed with five neighboring countries, we participated in joint camps and competitions, and in a way, we tried to organize camps for different ages to preserve the vitality of judo.

The President of the Judo Federation added: Judo of the Islamic Republic participated in the Asian Games and won a valuable bronze medal, and recently Iranian judokas also participated in the Grand Prix of the President of Tajikistan and out of the three who participated in these competitions, they won one medal. Silver and a bronze medal were obtained.

Mirasmaili said: The Judo Federation is looking to hold an international event in the country, and in this regard, a meeting was held with the head of the World Federation.

He emphasized: One of the main goals of the Judo Federation is to participate in the Asian Games and win the Olympic quota, which is being followed seriously.

The head of the Judo Federation continued: 20 September next year will be the end of Iran’s judo suspension, and the Asian Games will begin in October of the same year, for which we are looking to prepare, strengthen and participate in various training camps and tournaments in order to participate in these competitions with full preparation.

108,000 judokas are registered in Iran’s judo system, of which 12,000 are women.
