According to the Mehr correspondent, the World Wrestling Union has determined the venue of the 2023 European Wrestling Championships, and accordingly, Baku will host the European Wrestling Championships for the third time after the 2022 European Wrestling Championships are held in Hungary.
Baku has previously hosted the main continental tournament twice. In 2002, freestyle wrestlers competed in the City of Winds and Lighting, and in 2010, representatives from the three freestyle, western and women’s disciplines competed.
The names of two candidates for the European Wrestling Championship in 2023 were mentioned, and in addition to Azerbaijan, Croatia also wanted to host this competition.
According to the Mehr reporter, the Russian freestyle and western wrestling teams have always had the best performance in the European Championships, and the most championships in the Green Continent belong to this country.
