He continued: “The victory against the German team made the players face Italy in a good mental condition, but unfortunately, contrary to expectations, we played badly against Italy from the very beginning. We lost 8-1 in the first set and could not make up for it. We gave up the game. In the second set, contrary to expectations, we had a good start and got ahead by a few points, but from the middle of the game, the Italians were riding the game and we lost this set with a high score difference and a result of 25-16. In my opinion, we lost team cohesion in the second set and did not perform well.
The volleyball expert of our country continued: In the third set, despite the changes, Arman Salehi replaced Hazratpour, Hajipour instead of Ismailnejad and Esfandiar instead of Khanzadeh came to the field and appeared against Italy with a new and good lineup. In this set, the game was completely in the hands of the Iranian players and the error percentage of the Italian players increased so that in the third set, the Italians broke 10 serves. However, at the score of 24-21, when Iran was not one point away from victory, they did not appreciate it very easily and gave up this set as well.
Neferzadeh stated: I think the mistake that the Iranian players made against Poland in the first week and they thought that they won the field; They repeated it against Italy in the third set and won the third set very soon, but the Italians realistically pushed forward and finally won this set as well.
Iran’s volleyball coach said about Iran’s weak point against Italy: the players worked very well in attack and returning balls, but we were very weak in service and defense on the ball; Against Italy, it appeared full of mistakes, but again, Iran’s force did not reach this team.
Regarding the game against America, he said: The game against America, like the game against Poland, is always highly sensitive, and the confrontation between these two teams is attractive. I think the Iranian team can play better against America and will win against them.
