According to Tasnim news agency and quoted by AS Spain magazine; Former Atletico Madrid and AC Milan forward Nikola Kalinic has signed a new six-month contract that will see him earn just one euro a week. The 36-year-old Kalinic, who has scored 15 goals in 42 appearances for the Croatian national team, has agreed to play for them virtually for free in a bid to lure his boyhood club, Hajduk Split.
He played for the same team in the 2022-23 season, but he became a free player when his contract expired and has remained without a team since then. It seems that Hajduk Split now wants to buy a new striker and Kalinic is ready to help this team without salary. The manager of the player’s program also confirmed this and considered Kalinic’s new contract to be the easiest contract of his entire career.
Kalinić’s new contract still has an ambiguity, which is the conflict of its provisions with the labor law in Croatia, because according to the laws of this country, the minimum wage paid to a worker is 840 euros.
Kalinic joined Atletico Madrid in 2018 with a contract of 14.4 million euros, but he did not spend good days in this team.
