According to IRNA; Karate competitions of the Islamic countries started today Wednesday in the city of Konya, Turkey, and the representatives of our country faced their opponents in 2 divisions, men and women.

The poor holding of these games was also extended to karate competitions and the interruption of the scoring system caused the kata (form execution) competitions to be stopped intermittently.

In Wednesday’s competition, the Iranian team failed to win a gold medal and won three silver and one bronze.

The results of the representatives of Iran are as follows

Men’s section

In the preliminary section of the individual kata, Abolfazl Shahrjardi went to the second round in competition with seven other Qataris, and then he was ranked higher than the representatives of Indonesia, the Republic of Azerbaijan, and Algeria and made it to the finals.

In the final match, he lost against the representative of the host and won silver.

Minus 60 kg, “Ali Maskini” lost in the first step against “Rafael Akbarov” from Kyrgyzstan and was eliminated very soon.

Minus 67 kg, “Morteza Nemati” defeated the representative of Qatar with a score of 4-1 in the first step, and then he defeated “Bork Ugur” from the host country by 2-1. In the semi-final, Nemati succumbed to Moroccan Saeed Obaya with a score of 5-1 and failed to advance to the final to try for the bronze medal.

In the ranking, Nemati lost the result to a competitor from the Republic of Azerbaijan and failed to win a medal.

Minus 75 kg, “Ali Asghar Asiabari”, the experienced representative of Iran, defeated opponents from Senegal and Kyrgyzstan and made his way to the semi-finals. He then defeated the Jordanian “Hossein Mesaro” and entered the finals.

In the final against “Anas Alam” from Morocco, Asiabari suffered a heavy defeat of 7-0 and settled for the silver medal.

Women’s section

Kata, a team consisting of Sepideh Amini, Zainab Al-Sadat Hosseini and Melika Ezzati performed well in the preliminary stage and qualified for the finals to win the gold medal.

The Iranian team lost the final match to Morocco and won the silver medal.

Minus 50 kg, “Sara Bahmanyar” first defeated “Asiava” from Kyrgyzstan and then was defeated by “Chaime Ahiati” from Morocco with a score of 3-1 to go to the table of chances again.

He defeated the representative of Kazakhstan in the ranking and won the bronze medal.

Minus 55 kg, “Toravat Khaksar” lost in the first step against “Madina Sadigova” from the Republic of Azerbaijan and due to this opponent’s failure to advance to the final, Khaksar was eliminated.

Other representatives of Iranian karate in two categories, kata and kumite, will go on the tatami tomorrow, Thursday.
