According to Mehr reporter, earlier this week, Ghasem Ali Asgari, head of the Tehran province wrestling board, appointed Alireza Rezaei, Olympic silver medalist and world bronze medalist and former national team technical director and coach, as the head coach of the capital’s adult freestyle wrestling team.
In this regard, Alireza Rezaei, in a conversation with Mehr reporter, pointed out that wrestling in the capital has a lot of potential to become the country’s wrestling pole, and stated: We should not forget that until a few years ago, many of the freestylers of the national team were from Tehran. . For example, in the composition of the team that we sent to the 2003 World Championships in New York, most of the children were from Tehran. Of course, Tehrani’s presence in the national free wrestling team has been subject to ups and downs for several years, and he must return to his peak days.
He continued: With respect to all the provinces and hard-working wrestlers and coaches across the country, I must say that Tehran wrestling has the potential to take the first place in Iranian wrestling again, considering its population. Of course, it would be better if this competition is created between all provinces so that eventually the wrestling of our country will grow. In order to achieve this important goal, all the existing forces and assets should be put together and advance the written programs with the help and support of each other.
The former head coach of the Azad Omid national wrestling team added: “I have been friends with the new head of the Tehran provincial wrestling board for many years, and we used to train together in one of the old clubs.” Of course, he is older than me, and according to my knowledge of him, I accepted his invitation to work in Tehran’s ship.
Rezaei pointed out the presence of some big names in Tehran’s wrestling arena and said: As soon as Qasim Ali Asgari, as the new helmsman of the Tehran team, was able to invite famous and great coaches like Akbar Fallah and Mohammad Bana to the field, he has done a lot of valuable and great work. In addition, as one of the Tehrani wrestlers, I feel that I should pay my respects to the wrestling of my hometown and do whatever help I can.
At the end, in response to the question of whether the new responsibility in Tehran will not interfere with his activities in Alborz province, Rezaei added: It is not the case at all. As before, I will be with the young freelancers and the delegation of this province in Elbez. Anyway, I will continue to work until I know that I am useful somewhere that I think I can still help young and up-and-coming wrestlers for now.
