In an interview with Mehr reporter, Abbas Mirhosseini said about the state of the national volleyball team after the runner-up title in the Asian Championship: “Iranian volleyball worked very strongly at the basic level and the efforts of the referees cannot be ignored.” He did what he could for volleyball and honestly, his teammates get a passing grade in the basic category. Whether we like it or not, volleyball fans want results from the senior team. In the last few years, many players played as Legionnaires at the highest level of volleyball. Therefore, the players, people and even sports officials expect the national team to get results, which, of course, in my opinion, is expected.
Talking about going to arbitration is emotional
He added: “During this time, I saw that some friends spoke very emotionally and said that the referee should leave volleyball.” Of course, I also criticize many issues of the senior national team, but I believe that refereeing in the basic ranks has worked hard to ensure the future generation of volleyball. But we did not get results in the senior category. Atai is my friend, but I have to admit that he did not have a good track record as an Iranian coach. If this trend continues, the Olympics will be in jeopardy, so that now the Netherlands is close to us in the ranking, and it is not even unlikely that Iran will get the tenth place. Other teams are also threatening Iranian volleyball and we should think about this issue.
The technical staff had not reached the fixed composition
The volleyball expert pointed to Iran’s failure in the League of Nations and said: At the time of the League of Nations, there were issues such as the length of the league, players’ injuries and lack of recovery, as well as the lack of preparatory games, all of which were acceptable, but in the Asian Championship, a series Doubts arose. Why did Esfandiar fail and return to the team again?! What happened that Manavi Nejad was not invited to the national team?! In the Asian Championship, the head coach was not yet in control of the team’s elbows and the composition of the team was not fixed. While the 12 preparatory games that were played in the League of Nations could be considered as preparatory games for the Asian Championship and the head coach will be included in the team. In the Asian Championship, the only team that pressured us was Japan, and playing with other teams did not determine the caliber of the national team.
I expect the referee to bring a first-class foreign coach
Mir Hosseini said: I am not saying that we should have won against Japan and we have to accept the fact that Iranian volleyball is no longer at the same level or higher than Japan. They have done a good infrastructure job in these few years and with a good program they have separated themselves from the Asian level, with all this we expected to at least play well against Japan. At present, the presence of a referee is mandatory in volleyball, and any of the friends who believe that he should leave the federation are talking emotionally. But I expected from the referee that after the League of Nations, a bad coach would add a day to the staff, because in the League of Nations, we saw the differences between the coaches and the distance between the players and the coaches during the break. The player believes that his level is higher than the head coach of the national team, these words should not be said, but unfortunately some players have this idea.
The players do not hear from the technical staff
In the continuation of his interview with Mehr reporter, the volleyball coach said: Just as players must participate in several national games to reach maturity, coaches must also participate in many Asian, World and Olympic competitions to reach maturity. The players of the national team went to the point that their knowledge is higher than the technical staff, and this caused them not to listen to the staff. My expectation was that a knowledgeable and up-to-date coach would be with Atai. If the first-class foreign coach was not willing to do this, Atai would be next to him. In the national team, the head coach is not important, what is important is not to endanger the national interests. Even if the federation was in trouble financially, the referee in this sport has enough credibility that wherever he asks for a loan, he will not be denied.
Atai will leave the national team if he cannot stay as an assistant
Mir Hosseini emphasized: If we consider all national interests, we should not be upset. There has been a golden generation in Iranian volleyball that has defeated all the greats of the world once, so people expect the national team to continue the same process. I request the referee to bring an up-to-date coach to Iran and add him to the team. If Atai is not willing to appear with the foreign coach, what is wrong with him leaving the national team?! Gentlemen should accept this fact, where they cannot manage it, they should leave because national interests are involved.
