The reaction of the head of the AFC Futsal Committee to the cancellation of the Asian Club Cup

According to Mehr reporter, it was last Wednesday that the news of the cancellation of the Asian Futsal Club Cup for the fourth consecutive year was published.

The Asian Football Confederation last held the Futsal Club Cup of the continent in 2019, which was always centralized in one country.

After that, due to the spread of the corona virus, the Asian continent was banned from watching the Asian Futsal Club Cup, and this issue continued until last year.

This is despite the fact that the Futsal Champions League was held in the European continent without any problems in recent years.

With the Asian Futsal Nations Cup being held in 2022, it was expected that the AFC would resume the Asian Club Cup in 2023 after a three-year hiatus and involve the champions of each country in the same way as before.

After the announcement of the cancellation of these competitions for the fourth consecutive year, Mehdi Taj, the head of the Iran Football Federation, who is also the head of the Asian Futsal Committee, reacted to this news.

According to Taj, the Asian Club Cup will be held this year but in a new way. He said: “The Asian Club Cup will be held, but it has changed shape. Two days ago, we had a two or three-hour Asia futsal meeting virtually. Good things happen.”

The head of the AFC Futsal Committee pointed to the new format of the Club Cup and added: “The Club Cup will first be held regionally in the Asian continent. The final stage and the championship will probably be held in Kuwait, UAE or Iran. These things are happening.”

This statement has been made while no mechanism for holding the Club Cup has been communicated to the various clubs and federations, especially since there is not much time left until the start of the summer and the season for holding these games.
