The reaction of the Ministry of Sports to the news of the appointment of a head coach for the national team and Esteghlal

According to the Mehr news agency and quoting the news website of the Ministry of Sports and Youth, following the publication of some news about the Ministry of Sports and Youth entering the technical issues of the national football team, Mohsen Motamedkia, head of the ministry’s public relations department, denied the news. Sports and youth have always supported the decisions of the Football Federation and this position still stands. The Ministry of Sports and Youth has no input on technical issues and only acts as a supporter behind sports federations, including the football federation.

Referring to some rumors, citing yesterday’s meeting of six national team players with Hamid Sajjadi, Minister of Sports, he stated: “Mr. Minister knows sports etiquette well and is fully acquainted with the position of the technical staff.” The meeting was held at the request of the head and technical staff of the national team, and he listened to the concerns of these players for nearly two hours on behalf of the other players and in the presence of the head of the team and a member of the board.

Motamedkia also denied the “non-permission” of the Ministry of Sports and Youth to hire some club coaches, including Esteghlal, saying: “Esteghlal and Persepolis clubs are being handed over to the people and the Ministry of Sports and Youth does not interfere in the affairs of these two clubs.” The managers of these two clubs can testify that the ministry does not interfere in such matters.

According to the Mehr correspondent, today some media outlets reported the desire of the Ministry of Sports and Youth to return Carlos Queiroz to the national team and replace Dragan Skucic.
