The leaked files are a series of payments totaling tens of millions of pounds, which have raised questions about whether the sums were disclosed to British football’s governing bodies.
These cases are related to various people in the club, including the program manager Eden Hazard, a former Chelsea player, one of the assistants of the former head coach of this team, Antonio Conte, and payments related to players such as Willian and Samuel Eto’o.
Chelsea’s finances between 2012 and 2019 have come under scrutiny by English football authorities after the club’s new owners voluntarily reported that incomplete financial information had been provided during Abramovich’s tenure.
Chelsea have already been fined £8.6m by UEFA and the Guardian reports that the FA is also investigating the club’s accounts.
Abramovich bought Chelsea in 2003 for £140 million and during his tenure, the club won four Premier League titles, two Champions Leagues and the Europa League.
