According to Mehr news agency, the 2022 Nations League volleyball tournament in the men’s group, which started on June 18 with the meeting between Bulgaria and Serbia in Ottawa, ended this morning, Monday, August 3, with the introduction of the first to sixteenth teams.
In total, 102 matches were held in the preliminary (96) and final (6) stages of this competition, and the teams of France, America, Poland and Italy were ranked first to fourth.
The caravan of Iran’s national volleyball team, which left Tehran on June 8th for the Serbian overseas camp and participation in the League of Nations 2022, arrived in Tehran on Sunday night, August 2nd, after a long and 57-day journey, with the welcome of Dr. Mohammad Reza Davarzani, president of the volleyball federation.
During this period, in addition to Serbia’s overseas camp, Iran’s volleyball men faced their opponents in Brazil, Bulgaria and Poland in the first to third weeks of the group stage.
The Iranian national volleyball team managed to defeat the teams of China, Australia, America, Canada, Poland, Slovenia and Serbia in a total of 12 matches of the three weeks of the preliminary stage and lost the result in the meeting with the teams of Holland, Japan, Bulgaria, Brazil and Italy. At the end of the group stage, with seven wins and 20 points, they were ranked seventh in the table and won the quota to participate in the final stage of the League of Nations.
Behrouz Atai’s students also faced Poland in the first round of the Nations League in Bologna, Italy, and despite an admirable performance, they were defeated by the first ranked team in the world to fail to qualify for the semi-final stage of the Nations League and placed in the seventh place of the Nations League, rising 5 experience a step up from the previous period of these competitions.
