The weakness of Iranian wrestlers was tactical/ no one can deny that they are bad – Mehr news agency Iran and world’s news

In an interview with Mehr reporter, Murad Mohammadi said about the performance of the national freestyle wrestling team in the World Championships of Serbia: Due to the presence of wrestlers from Belarus and Russia before the World Championships, it was expected that the wrestlers would have a difficult task ahead of them. Of course, I think the Russians were not in ideal conditions because they were away from the tournament for a few years, but they participated in these tournaments with famous wrestlers and got good results.

He added: Considering that it is the year leading to the Olympics, it was expected that all the wrestlers would come to the field with all their strength and seek to get a quota. In these matches, Iranian wrestlers were mostly tactically weak and did not execute the technical programs well on the mat. Now I don’t know what was the reason for this. There were a lot of mistakes by the wrestlers in this match and unfortunately it led to the loss of the wrestlers and we did not get a good result.

In response to the question of whether the alarm bell has sounded for Iranian wrestling with the results obtained in the world championships, the freestyle wrestling expert said: The results obtained by the national freestyle wrestling team in the world championships were not good and no one can deny it But Iran’s ship reserve is good in terms of manpower and we have to accept this issue. Just this year, teenagers and young people became world champions, and this result shows that wrestling’s potential is acceptable for the coming years. But in the category of adults, there are more expectations from them.

Mohammadi stated: Of course, it is natural that these expectations put pressure on wrestling heroes. In these matches, the biggest weakness of the wrestlers was tactical, and they did not lack in terms of physicality. As we have seen, Rahman Amouzad could fight until the last second, that is, if he did not retreat for 45 seconds, he could continue and his opponent would not recover to get points. Ya Mojtabi Glej knocked down his opponent, but his momentary mistake caused the pressure to decrease and he lost the result.

He said: The only wrestler who I think was physically weak was Azarpira, who put a lot of pressure on herself in front of her American opponent and her body weakened. In my opinion, the type of fighting method they designed for the wrestlers could have been better.
