Widespread power outages forecast in the UK

According to the report of the International Economic Group of Fars News Agency, citing Bloomberg, informed sources in the British government have said that the country is preparing for the worst scenario in the field of electricity supply.

The government has predicted that at the same time as the weather gets cold in this country, we will see a shortage of gas and this issue will lead to blackouts. These shutdowns are not only intended for industries but also for homes in England, and it is predicted that even by turning on coal-burning power plants in this country at the peak of demand, the British government will face problems in providing more than 16% of the country’s electricity needs.

On the other hand, the electricity and gas bill is expected to increase to $5,086 per year in January 2023, which is more than double the current rate.

The British government wants to give priority to the supply of gas to the distribution network during the gas shortage, and in case of more gas shortage, it will shut down the gas thermal power plants, which will cause blackouts and power cuts in the industries and homes of this country.

England, which is one of the main suppliers of European gas and sends LNG imported from Qatar and America to other European countries after processing, has very little capacity for gas storage.
