“Mitchells vs. Cars” won instant awards
“Mitchells vs. Cars” took a major step toward winning an Oscar for Best Animated Feature by winning the Instant Awards Grand Prix.
Theater News Base: The 49th Annual Animation Awards announced its winners, and Sony Pictures’s “Mitchells vs. Machines” won Best Animated Feature and Best Director.
Winning the award introduces the “Mitchells vs. Machines” animation as the vanguard of the Oscars, which is set to take place in about two weeks. In the last 20 years, she has won 14 instant awards and the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature.
“Escape”, another important chance for the Oscars, also won the Best Independent Documentary Award from this year’s immediate awards, and was selected as the best work in the TV section of the “Arkin” series.
Last year, Pixar’s “Spirit” animation won instant awards and eventually won the Oscar for Best Animated Feature.
