1.5 million earthquake victims of Turkey are living in tents / the amount of damage is 34 billion dollars


According to the report of the International Economic Group of Fars News Agency, citing Anatolia, the Turkish authorities announced the establishment of 189 emergency accommodation camps by erecting prefabricated houses in the earthquake-affected areas.

The directorate of Turkey’s Disaster Response Center “AFAD” announced on Thursday that 34,120 people have been accommodated in prefabricated houses.

The center also said that it has established 332 camps by erecting tents in 11 earthquake-affected provinces.

Afad has announced that the number of tents that have been erected in the earthquake affected areas has reached 360,167 tents.

The center announced that currently 1 million 440 thousand 668 people are living in these tents that have been set up in covered or military areas.

Meanwhile, thousands of survivors of the earthquake-stricken regions of Turkey were transferred to other provinces, and 42 thousand Syrians living in Turkey returned to their country after this disaster.

The 7.7-magnitude earthquake on the 6th of February in Turkey and Syria seriously damaged thousands of buildings, including schools, health centers, and other public infrastructures such as roads, airports, ports, oil stations, power lines, water supply, and sewage, and 10 A thousand aftershocks have been recorded since then.

During his visit to the earthquake-hit city of Adiyaman, the President of Turkey said: I promise the people that we will remove the damage caused by the earthquake to a large extent within a year.

He stated that without a doubt we will do whatever is necessary, adding: Geological investigations in the earthquake-affected areas have been completed and the number of residential units to be built has reached 309,000.

Referring to the fact that about 50,000 residential units will be built in Adiyaman, Erdogan said: “We are now starting the construction of these residential units in the areas whose geological tests have been completed.”

The World Bank has estimated the damage of the Turkish earthquake at 34 billion dollars.

The Turkish president also said that more than 44,000 people died as a result of the earthquake in Turkey, and more than 115,000 people were rescued from the rubble.

Although 27 days have passed since the deadly earthquake in Turkey, most of the people in the earthquake affected areas are still worried about the aftershocks and cannot return there due to the destruction of their houses, damage or insecurity.
