If we accept this justification, then our proximity to the UAE should have added to the prosperity of visiting our country’s pavilion. According to the official announcement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in 2021, there are 375 thousand Iranian citizens who have gone to the UAE to live or work. Also, according to unofficial statistics, there are more than half a million Iranians in the UAE, and these compatriots could potentially address the Iranian booth in Dubai.

But this argument also does not seem to be true, because the population of Pakistanis living in the UAE is three times that of Iranians, but their booth was announced as 550,000 by the first week of December. (+)

Therefore, it can be concluded that the most important factor in attracting the audience of Dubai Expo to a country’s pavilion, in the first place is the appearance and visual attractiveness of that pavilion and in the second place, the content presented in that pavilion. Contrary to the perception of some officials of the Iranian pavilion, scientific news is the first factor in the attractiveness of the content of a pavilion, and the display of the traditions and culture of that country is in the next ranks. Therefore, simply by showing Iranian traditions such as carpet weaving or local dance, as well as offering souvenirs such as pistachios and saffron, the global audience can not be persuaded to visit the Iranian pavilion.

Vahid Ghobadian, an architect and author of the book Fundamentals and Concepts in Contemporary Western Architecture, commented on this exhibition view: “In fact, instead of representing the culture and achievements of our country, the Iranian pavilion indicated that it wanted to earn money by receiving money.”

Earlier, the advisor to the Minister of Guidance had said: “The management and responsibility of the Expo should be with the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance, we insist on this and it is the right thing to do. “The Minister of Guidance is following up on this issue regularly.” It is hoped that with the transfer of responsibility for the Iran pavilion to the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance, both visually and in terms of cultural and artistic content, we will see a better situation than the current situation.

The expo is the largest and most important exhibition event in the world, which is used to show the best achievements of different countries, especially in the field of technology, innovation and architecture.
