12 billion rials earthquake damage to Fin Castle



According to the report of Aria Heritage, quoting the public relations of the General Directorate of Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts of Hormozgan, Sohrab Banavand said today, Tuesday, November 16, 1400: “In the aftermath of the earthquakes, parts of Fin Castle have been damaged.”

The director general of Hormozgan Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts added: “The tower and the rock to which the structure is attached, as well as the foundations of the eastern side of Fin Castle, have been damaged.”

He estimated the damage to the monument at 12 billion rials, adding: “Finn Castle can be traced back to the Islamic Middle Ages on the basis of the pottery obtained, but the monument was also used until the Qajar period.”

“Due to the intensity of the earthquake and the occurrence of aftershocks, cultural heritage experts and members of the protection unit are constantly reviewing the situation, and if another report is received, damage to historical monuments and buildings will be reported,” Banavand stressed.

6.3 and 6.4 magnitude earthquakes on Sunday, November 14th and 4.5 and 5 magnitude aftershocks on Monday, November 15th shook the city of Fin Hormozgan and caused damage.
