15 dams of the country are on the verge of overflowing

According to the economic correspondent of Fars news agency, the reserves of the country’s dams are now 60.64% full. This amount shows a 20.3% increase compared to last year.
Due to the fullness of various dams as well as the rain systems expected in the country, some dams are expected to reach their maximum capacity in the coming days. In this regard, the Ilam dam, with a storage of 55 million cubic meters and 90% filling, is prone to reach 100% capacity.
In addition to Ilam Dam, there are 14 Iyoshan, Tang Hamam, Tang Hale, Jegin, Darian, Doiraj, Sarouk, Sardasht, Sanbalroud, Salahuddin Kala, Karun 4, Garan, Getund and Golpayegan dams respectively with 49.59, 69.26, 3.2, 200.5, 325.13, 199.7, 35.29, 351.96, 1.32, 2, 2212.92, 82.16, 4606 and 35.85 million cubic meters are about to reach their maximum capacity.
* Increase in precipitation and management of water resources to improve the condition of dams in the country
In this regard, Shahab Sadeghi, an expert in water resources management, told Fars: due to the 11% increase in rainfall this year compared to last year, as well as the control and management of water resources in the form of a detailed plan, the conditions of the country’s dams have improved and the total volume of reservoirs has improved. We are experiencing a 20% increase despite the provision of water to all sectors.
* Suitability of water resource management model and climate change is necessary
In recent years, most of the country’s rains have caused floods in a short period of time, and due to the lack of proper management of surface reserves, this water has led to the destruction of infrastructure instead of being used for the development of the country. But this year, the surface water storage reserves have performed well in flood control and its use for economic and environmental growth.
According to Fars report, exploitation of surface water storage structures can improve the country’s water resources management tools and the appropriateness of exploitation models with climatic conditions will improve the resilience of the country in terms of water.
In recent years, the amount of rainfall in the country has been decreasing in the long term, and this problem doubles the importance of water resources management.
