2,000 people have seen “Red Rectangle” / a documentary about the Chavar football field disaster

According to Fars News Agency, quoting the public relations of Arasbaran Cultural Center, the movie “Red Rectangle” (about the martyrs of Chavar football field) directed by Hassan and Hossein Seidkhani and produced by the late Seyed Alireza Sajjadpour, was screened yesterday evening (Sunday, March 29) at Arasbaran Cultural Center. And was reviewed.

At the meeting, the makers of the movie “Red Rectangle” criticized the fact that the cinema of the Holy Defense is monopolized by a few people, saying: “When” Red Rectangle “was shown at a world festival, no one believed the tragedy of” Chavar “football field in Iran Has happened, and this shows that the sacred defense cinema can be trusted.
“Red Rectangle” is based on reality and is documentary, and the tone of voice and rhythm of the narrator reinforces the documentary aspect of the film, said cinema critic Kourosh Jahed. War is a terrible phenomenon in general, but it is interesting that in this film, it is constantly mentioned that life is also going on in war.
The cinema critic added: “We need a new look at the sacred defense cinema, and I hope that these two brothers, the director, have started their work with enthusiasm and made a hard-working film, despite all the problems that exist in the cinema.” Give.
Then, Seyyed Ahmad Mir Alaei, in honor of the memory of the late “Seyyed Alireza Sajjadpour”, who was in charge of producing the work, said: “The Red Rectangle” has been made with difficulty; But hope and effort are rippling through it. Young people like the Seydkhani brothers have created the “Red Rectangle” based on their concerns and events that they have touched closely, so that the audience can also get acquainted with some of the events that have taken place in the contemporary history of the country.
“Films like ‘Red Rectangle’ should be seen in the world,” he said. Continue this film so that all Iranians can see it. I have even told the Seidkhani brothers to try to see their film in the cinema, because every moment of this film has intimacy, resistance, humanity and forgiveness.
Mir Alaei pointed out: Filmmaking in our country should be accompanied by a careful and deep look, and I ask these two filmmakers to continue the path they have chosen correctly and make their films in the service of culture, content and meaning to the audience that comes from the hall. The cinema is coming out, they have added something.
Jamshid Jahanzadeh, the actor of “Red Rectangle”, also said in a short speech: I have known Hassan and Hossein Seidkhani for many years and I know that they started from scratch and worked hard and hard to get here; So, I sincerely congratulate them for making this film and I hope that they will move forward in this fruitful, proactive and hard-working way.

* 6 months for documentary research
Hassan Seidkhani, one of the directors of “Red Rectangle”, noting that the research of this film took 6 months, said: Most of the research was done in the field. On the other hand, the events that take place in this film, such as the arrest of the pilot, the wedding ceremony, etc., are based on reality and based on the events that took place in the 60s and 65s. It was important for us to create a work that was worth the audience’s time. I must also say that this work, which is completely based on reality, is an independent film.
Referring to the oppression of the martyrs of the “Four Football Field” tragedy, he said: “The bombing of the football field is the culmination of war crimes, and perhaps this is the point of human rights.” Meanwhile, the martyrs of Chavar were buried at night in complete oppression and in the desert in the Salehabad region of Ilam.
Noting that 2,000 people have watched the movie Red Rectangle so far, he said: “I hope that better things will happen for this work and that more audiences will watch it.” The film won the Crystal Medal and the Gold Medal of the Ficts International Film Festival in Italy, and when the film was screened at the festival, they did not believe that such a thing had happened in Iran. I raised this issue to say that we should trust the sacred defense cinema.

“Unfortunately, today’s generation is not familiar with the sacred defense, while we must seek to introduce our originality,” Seidkhani said. Fortunately, a student license has been issued for this work, and I hope that students will also watch this work.
Hossein Seidkhani, another director of “Red Rectangle”, also explained: “Since the corona virus spread in Iran, we have screened the film in remote villages of Isfahan, Shiraz, Bushehr, Mashhad, etc., showing it in different groups.” We left and talked about it with friends. We have come to the conclusion that the sacred defense cinema is monopolized and not everyone can work in this field. The sacred defense cinema is owned by a few special people; While young people are filmmakers who have pure subjects in this field and they must be trusted to work.
