4 Iranian diplomats were expelled from the Republic of Azerbaijan – Mehr news agency Iran and world’s news



According to Mehr news agency, citing Azartaj news agency, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan announced the summoning of the ambassador and the expulsion of 4 Iranian diplomats in Baku.

In the statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, it is stated in this regard: On April 6, Seyyed Abbas Mousavi, Ambassador Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the Republic of Azerbaijan, was summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

According to Baku’s statement, in this meeting, under the false pretext of Tehran’s recent provocative actions in relation to the Republic of Azerbaijan, this country’s displeasure was communicated to the Iranian ambassador.

This media added that the Iranian ambassador was informed that 4 employees of the Iranian embassy must leave the territory of the Republic of Azerbaijan within 48 hours under the pretext of activities contrary to the diplomatic status.

It should be mentioned that in the past days, Baku had arrested several citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan on baseless and illusory charges of cooperation and communication with Iran.
