4 prizes for Iranians from Tirana
Charso Press: The Tirana International Film Festival, which is one of the events approved by the Oscar Academy, was held this year on September 23-29, equivalent to Mehr 1-7, in the city of Tirana, Albania, and finally produced the film “Endless Border”. Abbas Amini won the main award for the best feature film of this film event.
“Endless Border” starring Pouria Rahimi Sam, Mino Sharifi and Hamed Alipour is about Ahmed, an exiled teacher who lives in a small poor village with Baloch ethnicity along the Iran-Afghanistan border. He meets a family of illegal Hazara refugees who are fleeing the immediate danger of the Taliban coming to power. Soon after, Ahmed realizes that prejudices are dictating all of their lives, and his views on right and wrong change drastically.
In other sections of the Tirana Film Festival, which is one of the film festivals approved by the Oscar Academy, “My Name is Asman” co-produced by Ali Asgari and “Gianluca Mangiashotti” from Italy won the award for the best short film of the festival, as well as the Iranian short film “Cut”. Meena Sadati was able to receive the award for the best film in the panorama section of this film event.
The best screenplay award of Tirana Festival 2023 went to the movie “Companion” by Mehsa Talebi and Hossam Dezfuli.
