5% increase in the amount of returned checks

The latest statistics published by the Central Bank on the flow of checks show that in September of this year, about 7.3 million checks worth about 249 thousand and 900 billion tomans were exchanged, which in terms of number and amount are 5.5 and respectively. It has increased by 23.5%.
On the other hand, about 6.6 million items worth 218,500 billion tomans have been received from exchange checks, which increase by 6.7 and 26.7 percent, respectively, in terms of number and amount.
In addition to the received checks, 709 thousand checks were returned, which in terms of number, returned checks compared to the previous month decreased by 4.4 percent and increased by five percent, respectively.
Also, during this period, about 2.2 million checks worth 127,500 billion tomans were exchanged in Tehran province, which indicates that Tehran province is the leader in the exchange of checks in the country.
Checks received in Tehran have been reported to be about two million items worth about 112,900 billion Tomans and returned checks equivalent to 197,000 items worth more than 14,600 billion Tomans.
In addition, in September, in the whole country, the equivalent of 686 thousand checks worth about 30 thousand and 200 billion tomans were returned due to deficit or lack of funds, which in terms of number and value of 96.7 and 96.1% of the total returned checks. It was due to deficit or lack of inventory.
On the other hand, in Tehran province, 189 thousand checks worth about 14 thousand billion Tomans have been returned due to deficit or lack of inventory, which in Tehran province is 95.9% in terms of number and 95.5% of the total amount of checks. The return was due to deficit or lack of inventory.
