5 killed in a shooting in Texas, USA

According to Fars International News Agency, American officials announced on Saturday that five people were killed in a shooting that targeted a house in the southeast of Texas.

According to San Jacinto city authorities, four people were killed and a fifth person died in the hospital in the early hours of Saturday morning during a shooting in the city of Cleveland, which is a suburb of the city of Houston, Texas.

According to ABC News, the attacker has not been arrested yet.

News sources have reported that the number of blind shootings in the United States has set a new record, and almost one shooting occurs every week in this country.

The database that monitors these events reported that 88 people died from 17 shootings in the last 111 days. Only in 2009, the number of people killed by shooting so far this year was close to this figure.

These events cover only a fraction of the annual deadly violence in America. But according to these statistics, they occur on average once every 6.53 days.

The motivations for blind shootings are many, including murder-suicide, domestic violence, gang retaliation, school shootings, and workplace shootings. However, barriers to change remain.

Despite the fact that such shootings each time fuel public debate about the necessary measures, the possibility of passing laws to prevent the use of semi-automatic weapons seems unlikely.

Although the United States accounts for about five percent of the world’s population, it houses nearly 31 percent of those who commit mass murders with weapons.

Also, according to the report of the US Congressional Research Center, Americans own about half (48%) of the total 650 million civilian weapons available around the world.

End of message.
