50 thousand solitary prisoners in America with minimal human rights standards

According to IRNA, citing the Guardian, the Yale University School of Law recently published a report on the state of prisons in this country, which shows that, contrary to the human rights claims of the United States, the minimum standards of the United Nations are not met in the case of imprisoned people.
In this report, referring to government statistics, it is stated that currently about 50,000 American prisoners are kept in solitary confinement, which according to the UN laws, this type of prisoner is considered torture.
According to the report of this faculty, most of the cells where the prisoners are kept have very limited space and in terms of human rights, the minimum standards are not met.
It is said that more than 6,000 prisoners are kept in absolute isolation and nearly 1,000 of them have been in such conditions for a decade.
Studies show that even short periods of solitary confinement can lead to severe psychological problems, including depression, aggression, and suicidal thoughts.
Judith Resnick, a law professor at Yale University, says that in the 1980s, solitary confinement was used as a method of combating violence in prisons, but now this phenomenon has become a normal thing in American prisons.
The Yale University report mentions a worrying issue that shows that more than a thousand American prisoners have suffered from chronic mental illnesses due to these conditions.
According to this report, about 30% of female prisoners are African American citizens.
