6980HX processor and RX 6850M XT graphics will be introduced by AMD at CES 2022

It seams AMD will introduce a variety of products at its CES 2022 press conference, including the Ryzen 9 6980HX, Ryzen 9 6900HX, Ryzen 7 6800H processors, and Radeon RX 6850M XT graphics.
Although the initial specifications of the Ryzen 9 6900HX were recently revealed, the new source claims that the previous laptop was operating in a state where thermal power was limited. In fact, the clock speed is much faster, so let’s start with the Rembrandt family, which comes with both Zen 3+ and RDNA 2 architectures.
Ryzen 9 6980HX processor and Radeon RX 6850M XT graphics likely to be introduced at CES 2022
The Ryzen 9 6980HX, Ryzen 9 6900HX and Ryzen 7 6800H all offer 8 16-core cores. As we said, these cores are based on the new Zen 3 Plus architecture, which is actually the same Zen 3 with a slight improvement and 6nm manufacturing technology. The new lithography clearly allows the Red team to provide higher performance at lower consumption. In terms of cache, we see 16 MB of level 3 cache and 4 MB of level 2. Unfortunately, 3D V Cache technology will not be available for laptops at this time.
In terms of clock speed, the Ryzen 9 6980HX, as the flagship, provides the 5.0 GHz boost frequency for the first time among Ryzen processors. The Ryzen 9 6900HX also achieves a 4.9 GHz clock boost, while the Ryzen 7 6800H has a maximum frequency of 4.7 GHz. The 6800H, as its extension suggests, has a standard 35- to 45-watt design, while the other two HX chips will have a heat output of more than 45 watts. The HX series also supports overclocking. It is currently thought that DDR5 4800 fast memory for the Ryzen 6000H series and LPDDR5 5200 memory for the Ryzen 6000U series will be used.
Processor name | Family | Architecture | Technology | Number of cores / strings | Base frequency | Boost frequency | Level three cache | Integrated graphics | thermal power |
Ryzen 9 6980HX | Rembrandt H | Zen 3+ | 6 nanometers? | 8/16 | Unknown | 5.00 GHz | 16 MB | Radeon 680M | More than 45 watts |
Ryzen 9 6900HX | Rembrandt H | Zen 3+ | 6 nanometers? | 8/16 | Unknown | 4.90 GHz | 16 MB | Radeon 680M | More than 45 watts |
Ryzen 7 6800H | Rembrandt H | Zen 3+ | 6 nanometers? | 8/16 | Unknown | 4.70 GHz | 16 MB | Unknown | 35 to 45 watts |
Another product that AMD plans to introduce at CES 2022 is the new flagship notebook graphics Radeon RX 6850M XT. Apparently, this model is a refreshed version of the current Radeon RX 6800M graphics, which will probably be released with 6-nanometer technology. It has 12GB of memory and a 192-bit bus, but has an improved Navi 22 chip. The maximum power of SmartShift for this graphic is 175 watts, while for the Radeon RX 6800M it was 230 watts. This means we see less energy consumption in refresh design.
In terms of performance, it is said that 10 to 15% better performance is expected thanks to improved frequency management and RDNA 2 architecture optimizations. It has also been announced that a new technology will be introduced that will allow the RX 6000M graphics to work together with the Radeon 600M integrated graphics in the Ryzen 6000 Rembrandt APUs for better performance.
