Applications for locating family and friends on Android

Most of us know different ways to locate, so we may feel we don’t need to add another method to the mix.

But knowing where friends and family live can often be useful, and knowing where their children are at a glance can be essential for parents, and that’s something you can do from your Android phone.
It’s important to note, though, that you can control who can see your location and when, and if someone in your life goes from “trusted” to “untrusted,” you can anytime you want. Please reconsider sharing your location.

Share location through Google Maps

The most famous and obvious option for location sharing on Android is Google Maps, which comes pre-installed on Android phones and is also available on iPhone.
Location sharing can be one-way or two-way, so you can see other people without them seeing you if you want to and if they let you. If you want to make your location visible, you need to enable location tracking on your phone from Settings in Android.

To start sharing your location, open Google Maps on your phone, click your profile picture in the top right, select Share location, and to start sharing your location with a new person, tap Click New Share. Then select how long you want to share your location to set between 15 minutes and 9 hours.

You can also turn off location sharing if you prefer this contact to be able to see your location until you decide otherwise. Once selected, your chosen contact will receive an alert on Google Maps that you are sharing your location. The contact has the option to share their location with you, but they don’t have to.

Other applications
Other apps on your phone may have some kind of location sharing feature built into WhatsApp. For example, you can tap the paperclip icon at the bottom of a conversation, then tap Location to let someone know where you are for up to 8 hours.

You can also share your location with your friends and family on Snapchat through Snap Maps. Tap the map pin icon on the home screen to see where all your contacts (contacts who share their location with you) are. Then tap the triangle icon in the upper right corner to determine which of your friends can see your location.

Glympse is one of the best location sharing apps out there. You have many options to manage who can see your location and when, and you can even use it for people who don’t have the app installed. their phones

The Life360 app is also great, but it’s primarily designed for families. In addition to offering location sharing features including location-based alerts that you and your kids can use, the app also offers private messaging and device tracking features. It can also alert you if it thinks a family member has been involved in an accident using the phone’s sensors, like Google’s Personal Safety app.
