80 billion sales of Iranian cinema in 1401

According to Fars News Agency, Iranian cinema has returned to almost normal after two years of coronation, and cinematographers have agreed to release the films. From the beginning of the year until now (the morning of May 10), 10 new films went on the silver screen and had a screening of 10 million 374 thousand 890 viewers with 102,193 views. Therefore, sales equivalent to 78 billion, 118 million and 568 thousand tomans for Iranian cinema in 1401 have been reached.

Of the ten films released this year, three are comedy films. What is important and at the same time worrying is the high sales share of comedy films compared to other genres. In a way, the three films “Dog”, “Shadruvan” ‌ and “Solo” in total were able to attract more than 1.5 million viewers to the cinemas, which is a share of more than 63% of the audience of Iranian cinema this year. Comedy films, on the other hand, do not account for more than 30% of their cinematic presence compared to other films.

Also, the total sales of three comedy films this year are approximately 50 billion and five hundred million tomans, which is close to 65% compared to the total sales of Iranian cinema.

Since the beginning of the year, 7 films “Mahdi Situation”, “Zero Day”, “Loser Man”, “Laminor”, “Bone Marrow”, “Flower by itself” and “Forbidden” have been screened on silver and only 37% of the audience. They have attracted cinema. Among these works, “Mahdi Situation”, which started its release on March 9, last year, has been the most popular with sales of nearly 11 billion. “Zero Day” with nearly 8 billion sales and “Loser Man” with sales of just over 6 billion are in the next categories. The sale of other works has not even reached one billion tomans.

“Dog”, which started its release in cinemas on March 16 of last year, has sold more than 30 billion Tomans, and “Individual”, which has just started its release, has exceeded 11 billion Tomans. Of course, “Shadruvan” has recently sold 9 billion tomans, which is not very high compared to comedy movies; This shows that comedy cinema is also in danger.

The popularity of comedy films has led cinematographers to want to screen comedy films in order to avoid losses in different seasons. The popularity of comedy films is a positive development, which shows that the people have not removed cinema from their cultural basket, but on the other hand, it is a warning to the whole of Iranian cinema, which is now facing an audience crisis.

Unfortunately, due to the lack of variety in comedy cinema, it is possible that after a while, the situation will return to normal, the audience will not even welcome comedy. An event that can push Iranian cinema to the brink of extinction. “Shadruvan” is an example of this issue, which, if repeated, will gradually face a sharp drop in sales.
