Somayeh Karimi, the director of the documentary “Stay for Us”, in an interview with a Fars News Agency TV reporter, said about how to choose the subject of this documentary: Introduced Zeinab to me. I talked to this lady in the first meeting and after that I had a conversation with Zeinab. The couple, despite having a past full of challenges and stress; But they were energetic and hopeful.

“Given the special circumstances of this family, the most important thing for me was that men and women want to be in front of the camera with all their might,” he said. On the other hand, the past and present of this family should have been so attractive to the audience that it occupied their minds. The audience must understand the sweetness of the feeling of motherhood and fatherhood that has long been lost in the concerns of the people and not easily pass over this pure and loving feeling.

Karimi explained the difficulties of making a documentary with such a special subject: It is not easy to be in the life of a family in this situation; Of course, maybe being a woman helped the couple a lot with us. From the beginning, although they had a stressful period due to unsuccessful pregnancies in the past; But they did not hesitate to cooperate with us. In my opinion, during the production of a documentary from one time onwards, the connection with the subjects should be so strong that the presence of agents and the camera should not be felt. This is not easy; But fortunately, despite the short period of acquaintance, a good relationship was formed with the subjects.

He continued: “When I met Zeinab and Ali, they were spending the last days waiting for their child to be born, and I had a short time to research and accompany this family.” The work started quickly and we made plans during the pregnancy, we also recorded two days after the delivery, and after a one-month break due to the special circumstances of the mother, we were with the family again for a few days and the remaining pictures were recorded.

The director of the documentary “Stay for Us” emphasized on “approaching the subject” as one of the features of this documentary, adding: “Approaching the family in this situation made the documentary different from other subjects, and in this type of documentary, it should be done with minimal factors on stage.” He showed up, and of course this adds to the pressure. On the other hand, the couple was supposed to have a child after 17 years and after several unsuccessful pregnancies, and the stress of having a healthy child was passed on to me and the agents.

He stated: Another thing that happened in this documentary was the delay in delivery. Despite plans to take pictures during pregnancy, the baby was born earlier at the doctor’s discretion and according to the mother’s specific circumstances. It was natural for us to have trouble planning; But thank God the special moments the family had were so fascinating and effective that they made up for the loss of pregnancy moments.

“However, the nature of the documentary is that every moment that is created can be a pure and unrepeatable moment,” he said. Of course, not everything is perfect, and things can happen that take the documentary away from what the director has in mind. This is one of the advantages of a documentary film that the final output may be different from what is on paper; But because of what happens in the moment, the audience understands these moments and sits in his heart better.

Regarding the need to produce such a work, Karimi said: “In the current situation, society and people need to watch pure moments away from the hustle and bustle.” Unfortunately, due to many problems, people have long forgotten the joy of motherhood and fatherhood or pass by it easily, while people like Zeinab and Ali, who have been deprived of this blessing for 17 years, understand the lack of this gift. , Maybe this documentary can be a flip that everyone goes with Ali and Zeinab and wants to experience the lovely moments of motherhood and fatherhood.

In the end, he said: “I thank God that I had such a pleasant experience and together with Zeinab and Ali, I laughed, cried, worried, had stress, was happy, and all the feelings of this family were transferred to me.” Finally, the title of this documentary, which means the name of our baby, “Stay for us”, also came true, and Manley was born healthy and remained for this couple.
