A cyber attack on a large Australian bank and the disclosure of information of 10 million customers

According to the reporter of the International Economy of Fars News Agency, quoted by Reuters, Medibank Australia, which is considered the largest health insurer in this country, announced today that it does not intend to pay ransom to the cyber criminals who stole the information of 9.7 million customers of this bank.
Medibank has confirmed that the names, dates of birth, addresses, phone numbers and emails of 9.7 million customers of the bank were stolen in a cyber attack.
In general, recently we have seen an increase in cyber attacks in Australia, as the government of this country reported that a cyber attack happens in this country every 7 minutes.
David Kuczkar, CEO of Medibank, says: Based on the advice given by the experts of the cyber protection team, we believe that if we pay the ransom to the cyber attackers, there is a small chance that they will not release our customers’ information and give it back to us.
Kuczkar added: If we give ransom to hackers, this issue can encourage them to directly extort from customers and hit more people.
