A healthy human being depends on a healthy earth

According to the Khuzestan Wave News Agency, Gholamreza Sabzeqbaei, Assistant Professor of the Department of Environment, Behbahan University of Technology, referring to the slogan of Health Week, said: “Today, we see the presence of macroplastics in drinking water and all the foods we eat during the day.” This is a problem that seriously threatens human health and the environment.

He added: “Many of these macroplastics, which originate from the indiscriminate use of plastic materials, have reached far beyond human reach, such as the North and South Poles, through ocean currents, which shows the depth of this environmental catastrophe.”

Assistant Professor of Environment Department, Behbahan University of Technology said: Human health is directly related to the health of the environment around him. Elimination of plastic pollutants is something that should be considered even individually and in personal life. In choosing food and consumables, it is better to choose materials that have a more limited packaging. Sometimes in grocery stores or containers, there are packages that, despite their large size, contain a small amount of food.

He added: “Cheap plastic has made using it much more than necessary.” It is better to use containers that are absorbable in the environment and do not harm human health after decomposition, or at least wash plastic bags more than once and use them for various purposes, because plastic has a high durability and in many In some cases, it is possible to reuse it.

Referring to the effects of burning waste on the human environment, Sabzeqbaei added: “Garbage burning is very common in the metropolis of Ahvaz.” Sometimes, in order to reduce the volume of plastic waste, it is set on fire at the collection point, and the effects of its pollution are spread even miles away and can even be seen with the naked eye.

Referring to the importance of saving energy consumption, he said: “The lower the energy consumption by humans, the less pollution caused by the production of this energy.” Sometimes electricity that does not appear to be polluted is the result of combined fuel or diesel power plants, and in fact we are harming the environment by consuming too much electricity. In these circumstances, it is best to limit energy use to the actual need as much as possible. It is not necessary to use a personal car on short distances and it only results in air pollution.

Behbahan University of Technology Environment Department Assistant Professor on the importance of forests in environmental health said: “Forests are like sponges on the ground that in addition to producing oxygen and air purification, by absorbing rainwater and discharging it to groundwater prevents degradation and erosion.” It becomes. If we lose forests, we will see floods and the destruction of groundwater resources, landslides and landslides.

He added: “The process of destruction and damage to forests and pastures by humans has intensified and it should be borne in mind that if the vegetation is destroyed, many areas will be depopulated.” Authorities must prevent deforestation with proper management. The conversion of forest areas into agricultural and residential lands, the uncontrolled cutting of trees to benefit from their timber, the harvesting of medicinal plants from forests in the season of yield and flowering of plants, are some of the things that can cause irreparable damage to the environment.
