Charso Press: new construction Alireza Motamedi It has an interesting and unique idea and subject in Iranian cinema. Crying or not is the issue, crying is very important as one of the effective ways to release emotions to maintain the mental health of a person.

The important thing about crying is that it does not only happen due to the experience of sad phenomena, but it is also considered a natural response to strong emotions of any kind, both exciting and joyful, hence having the ability to cry when Need can even be a kind of survival effort.

Despite the great importance of this phenomenon, we may miss it from time to time. Maybe it has happened to you that you have a strong desire to cry, but you cannot shed even a drop of tears, in such a situation, the eyes become hot and ready to shed tears. , but the anger doesn’t break and the mental pressure doubles, maybe you don’t feel like crying at all, but because of the intensity of the feelings that hit you during the day, you want to express them with
shed tears and fail.

In a note (1), I read that there are various physical and mental reasons for not crying, and some of the mental reasons related to this issue are as follows:

A) melancholic depression

Melancholic depression is a type of severe depressive disorder that is often accompanied by severe and serious symptoms. Suffering from this type of depression can be associated with numbness, reduced performance, severe disappointment, apathy and feeling of not belonging to the world around and not reacting to events (especially positive events). A person suffering from melancholic depression may feel feel the pain with very low intensities and this can make this person unable to cry.

(b) Anhedonia

Anhedonia is a disorder in the function of the part that perceives pleasure in the brain, which is usually characterized by a decrease in motivation or the level of perception of pleasure and pleasant events. Anhedonia is generally considered as one of the symptoms of depression, but it can be independent or with the disorder. If other mental problems are also expressed, the most noticeable consequence of anhedonia is a lack of interest in being in the community and participating in activities that are pleasurable in the eyes of the public.

As a result of this disorder, the feeling of pleasure is severely suppressed and the ability to express emotions is greatly reduced. Scientific studies conducted on people with anhedonia or anhedonia caused by depression have shown that they have lost the ability to cry to a great extent and in some cases even completely.

movie why don’t you cry

Comparing the two mentioned causes with the main character of the film, namely Alireza, in the script shows that he suffers from melancholic depression to a large extent and anhedonia disorder to some extent, and the application of this problem in the script shows that the processing of Alireza’s character by studying and Complete understanding of the two mentioned mental disorders.

However, it seems from the content that Motamedi has tried to somehow criticize and ridicule the modern intellectualism of Iranian society, which can be easily found in various scenes of the story, from the picnic in the cowshed. And watching the movie “Cow” to the hunting scene in Tajrish Square are all parts of this issue that have given original features to the work in a humorous atmosphere.

But it is also necessary to mention one point that Motamidi has made dangerous jokes in his script with some categories respected by the society, which is not very popular, and I wished that he would move forward with his script and film without moving towards the mentioned topics: the presence scene Alireza in a religious delegation and his hospitalization in the head room adjacent to the delegation, the scene of Alireza and his aunt being at the grave and giving praise to Alireza in that place, the scene of Amir Hossein reciting the Qur’an above a grave that was dug with Alireza’s cooperation and he is in it He is asleep to cope with the concept of death more easily, and the scene of the presence of a married woman and a concubine, for example, Alireza, with him at home is one of the jokes that is considered the red line of religious and moral beliefs, and Motamidi has somehow crossed this red line. Is.

But the finale of the story and the final scene is where the filmmaker and script writer ridiculed the modern intellectual trend these days, all the hard and heavy and exhausting effort to cry and an insignificant and childish incident that makes you cry. And perhaps it is the smartest ending that we could imagine for such a story, and fortunately this happened at the end of “Why don’t you cry”.

The structure is also coherent and spectacular, especially in the acting department, where Motamedi himself shines in the role of Alireza, and of course, the very short performance of Ali Musfa and the role of Mani Haghighi are considered to be the strengths of the work in the field of acting.

Creating the right rhythm in the structure is one of the success factors of the film, and finally, I believe that “Why don’t you cry” is a good success in the career of Alireza Motamedi, our former media colleague and today’s Iranian cinema filmmaker.
