A look at the statistics of the hardware used by users of the Steam network

According to the latest survey conducted by Steam of its 120 million active users on PC, it was found that Intel and Nvidia on Windows still maintain their superiority in the gaming sector. Also, AMD managed to overtake its longtime rival on the Linux platform. Stay with Lion Tech.
At the time of writing this article and based on the data obtained from this survey, Microsoft’s operating system is still the main choice of gamers on the computer platform with 97.03% ownership. The second and third places belong to the Apple operating system with 1.74% and Linux with 1.23% respectively.
A look at the statistics of the hardware used by users of the Steam network
In the processor and Windows section, the Intel platform with 66.26% (a decrease of 2.21% compared to last month) was still able to register its name as the popular brand of gamers around the world. The share of AMD processors is 33.73% (an increase of 2.22% compared to the previous month). However, the results on the Linux operating system are different and AMD is currently ahead of its rival Intel (49.01 percent share) with a 50.99 percent share on this operating system.
Recorded statistics show that the majority of Steam network users use a 6-core processor (34.38% – a decrease of 0.98% compared to the previous month). Meanwhile, the second and third places are reserved for 4-core and 8-core processors, respectively.
In the graphic section, the green team has been able to maintain its distance from the red team. Accordingly, the largest share of graphic cards used by Steam users belongs to the Nvidia brand with a share of 76.19%, followed by AMD with a share of 14.64%. Also, Intel’s graphics processors were third in this list (8.96 percent share).
Top 5 graphics cards for gamers
It should be noted that the top 4 graphics cards in this list that have the largest share are GTX 1060, GTX 1650, GTX 1050 Ti and RTX 2060. These cards currently have no problem in terms of inventory, and their reasonable price has made them the choice of most gamers for assembling economic systems. The only RTX 30 series graphics card that managed to make it to the top 5 cards in this list was the RTX 3060 laptop version with a 3.34% share.
Also, RTX 3060 (desktop), RTX 3070, and RTX 3060 Ti cards have 2.58, 2.29, and 1.90 percent market share, respectively. RTX 3080 graphics card with 1.68% and RTX 3050 only have 1.38% of this share. The situation for new AMD graphics cards is not very clear and they are mostly at the bottom of the table. For example, the RX 6700 XT graphics card has only 0.33% market share.
According to these results, AMD’s work in the gaming sector is very difficult and it is almost difficult to compete with Intel and Nvidia at the current stage. Currently, the green and blue team rests on the throne of the graphic card and processor, and it is unlikely that this difference will decrease in the coming months. Unless AMD shakes things up with new graphics cards based on the RDNA 3 architecture.
