A mother’s suffering letter narrated by Rasool Malaqlipour

Rasool Malaqlipour used to say: the movie “Mime Like a Mother” is a letter of a mother’s suffering.
Charso Press: At the same time as Mother’s Day and Women’s Day, there is a review of one of the most important films made about mothers in Iranian cinema.
The movie “Mime Like a Mother” produced by Manouchehr Mohammadi was shown in 2005 exactly 17 years ago and was remembered by Malaqlipour in the same year. ISNA press conference He was present and now we have a review of a part of this meeting.
“Mime Like a Mother” was screened based on a screenplay by Malaqlipour, and the summary of its story is as follows: “The doctors found the cause of the condition of Saeed (Ali Shadman), the son of Sepideh (played by Golshifteh Farahani), to be caused by inhaling chemical gases.” In the time of war they know by Sepideh. Sohail, Saeed’s father, played by Hossein Yari, insists that the child be delivered to a nursing home, but Sepideh opposes.
Rasool Malaqlipour said about the characters of women and mothers in his film: Before “Mime Like a Mother”, some of the characters and stories of my films were about women, such as “The Survivors” and “Hiva”, both of which were made with the theme of war. But to be heavily involved in the subject and the main character of the film is a woman, was not in my work set.
Regarding this point of view, “Mime is like a mother” in the second part of “Saviors”, he mentioned: we can look at the view that the woman of “Saviors” who was in the war, now has a life after years have passed. And it can suffer from such problems and complications that Sepideh suffered from.
Malaqlipour emphasized the emotional impact of the film on the audience: I did not intend to play with the audience’s feelings. But regardless of the topic that was raised in “Mime Like a Mother”, it was definitely clear that it would affect the audience emotionally, at the same time, I did not think that it would have such an effect on the audience. It was in the middle of the filming, and part of the montage of the film was done at the same time, and Mr. Manouchehrmohammadi – the producer of the film – saw the scenes and told me to put the fuse down, if you go forward like this, we may not be able to control the audience. Naturally, from the middle of the movie onwards, I turned down the film’s over-emotional wick, so if it was my hand, the movie would definitely be much more emotional than this, because it was a relationship between a mother and a child.
This Iranian cinema director believed: If I claim to have made an impressive film, I need to first see the reaction of the audience in the cinema hall and whether the audience likes it or not. Then I will check the strengths and weaknesses of the work. I can’t leave the examination of the strengths and weaknesses of my film to people who are bankrupt in the cinema and without turning on a light to see the film’s weaknesses, they are content with insulting criticism.
I can find out the weak and strong points of the film when I read the scientific reviews of literate and knowledgeable people along with the opinion of the audience. Naturally, in that situation, I will reach a conclusion. When “Father’s Farm” was released because it didn’t have an owner, naturally it didn’t go well and I could never come to a conclusion that what percentage of “Father’s Farm” was wrong with me and what percent of the games or other things. In general, I can say that the problem of that movie was the release, of course, I cannot claim that it was a perfect movie; As I believe, “Mime Like Mother” will definitely not be without flaws.
He also believed that the movie “Mime Like a Mother” is not a bitter and black movie, but rather a mother’s suffering book, and I think that it cannot have a negative effect on the audience.
Also, about the scene of Saddam being pulled out of the pit, which is mentioned in the movie “Mime Like a Mother”, Malaqlipour said: Suppose this movie is going to be shown for another generation in 20 years, I have to say on what date this movie was made and at the same time Now, it was very important for me to show the main perpetrator of this crime in this film, although there were other countries and powers, but the main perpetrator was Saddam.
Naturally, I was very happy with the arrest of Saddam in such a scandalous way, and I felt it necessary to show it in this film in the same way.
Referring to the movie Mime Like a Mother, he said: If you pay attention, somewhere in the movie, Sepideh says, out of the 12,000 people in Sardasht, 8,000 people underwent chemotherapy that day, and of those 8,000 people, naturally, half of them were women. Do you know them? What are the basic problems after being chemically treated? They have strange problems. While I believe that Sepideh in the movie “Mime Like Mother” is not so poor and she is in Tehran, she has at least one friend. Now, if we wanted to depict the life of one of the women who was a victim of this incident in Sardasht, it would certainly be more unbearable.
Chemical women of Sardasht city have such acute conditions that Sepideh’s life will never be more painful for them than their own life. Sepideh lives in Tehran, her condition is not bad, but they do not have this condition. Naturally, they will not be emotional there. This movie is a flip to know what the women out there are doing! Children born there are still chemically treated, while they were not at all during the war; But they are born infected with mustard gas.
