He added: The number of ships passing through the north of the canal reaches 44 ships with a net tonnage of three million tons, and 45 ships have passed through the south route on the new navigation route of the canal with a total net tonnage of 2.2 million tons.
Rabiei emphasized: The daily transit rate of the Suez Canal has increased significantly after the opening of the new Suez Canal project, so that the average daily transit of ships passing through the canal has increased from 48 ships before the new canal project to 62 ships.
He said: “The records set by the navigation movement in this channel are due to the new Suez Canal project, which leads to increasing the capacity of the channel and raising its efficiency to accept the current and future generation of giant ships with huge cargoes and large submarines, which are the arsenals of world ships in They are under construction.
Today Saturday, the giant COSCO SHIPPING PISCES container ship with a total cargo weight of 2.2 thousand tons arrived from the north side of the channel, which is on its way from England to Singapore.
From the south side of the Suez Canal, the OOCL SCANDINAVIA container ship with the Hong Kong flag, with a cargo capacity of 220 thousand tons, is moving from Singapore to the United Kingdom by crossing the canal.
Rabiei recently said that in the fiscal year ending June 30, Egypt earned 7 billion dollars from the passage of ships through the Suez Canal, which has grown by 20% compared to last year.
The reason for the increase in the income of Egyptians is the increase in the number of cargo ships passing through this canal, which has grown by 10.9% compared to the previous year.
The Suez Canal is the shortest waterway between Asia and Europe and is one of the main sources of foreign exchange for the Egyptian government.
It was in 2015 that Egypt started the process of widening the Suez Canal and this project is scheduled to be completed in 2023. This action has increased the income of Egyptians from this channel.
Egypt said that in the fiscal year ending June 30, 22,32 ships passed through the Suez Canal, which was a 15.7 percent increase.
