Navid Farah Marzi, the make-up designer of the movie “Pituk”, while emphasizing the importance of choosing the right actors for different roles, criticized the aging or youthfulness of some actors for no reason.
Charso Press: Navid Farahmarzi, the makeup designer of the movie “Pituk” directed by Sidmjid Salehi, which has been shown in cinemas all over the country these days, pointed out that the director of this movie was one of his active and creative students, and said: I have announced for years with the filmmakers as well. I can cooperate with short films and students who are studying or graduating in this field, because I believe that their new thinking and creativity can be effective in the structure and type of view as well as changing the direction of old cinema by respecting the elders of this field.
He said: I liked the script of this film written by Amirreza Nouriperto and Sadegh Khushal and the genre of the film. Also, the academic atmosphere dominated the work, and the friends who had gathered together were far from the beliefs and market environment that we were able to cooperate with.
The make-up designer “Pitok” continued: “I can boldly say that no work from zero to one hundred will be one hundred, because there are slips and shortcomings in all works, and if it were not so, the work would end with the first structure in any genre and another structure. It was not happening.
In another part of his speech, he pointed out that the director’s point of view is important for him to appear in a work, and stated: Unfortunately, we are currently involved in a series of problems with Shoaf’s name. On the other hand, we have two types of actors in current Iranian cinema. There are a bunch of actors who got dusty on the stage, went through the academic environment and entered the professional field with great effort.
This make-up artist added: “On the other hand, we have a bunch of actors who, although they are not disrespectful, entered this field due to reasons and conditions based on the needs of the movie market, which all cinema kids know.” This also applies to other jobs, for example, all graduates of the medical field will not have the right to work in the office and must meet certain conditions.
Farah Marzi emphasized: It is important for me that the director considers the make-up involved in the selection of characters and types in the role. The important issue of most of the films that have a real place in their definition is the right choice of actors. In many cases, we have seen that a bunch of actors grow old and young with make-up for no reason, while we have actors who can play roles in their own place.
He stated: As the director of the first film, Sidmjid Salehi was aware of a number of issues. At work, his expectations of the story and its origin were noble, and fortunately, in the interactions we had with the director, we were able to achieve what we wanted.
Farah Marzi continued: The challenge arises when we want to convey our thoughts. I have come to the conclusion for many years that when I am going to work with the first film, I should definitely take the bag of my experience to my own size and divide it with the director’s expectations. Not because he is his first job and I am the fifth, so that I can influence him and tell him whatever is on my mind. On the other hand, the actor’s point of view is also important, if all these things are put together, we can reach a pleasant harmony and coexistence, which results in all the factors standing together.
This make-up designer stated that before “Pituk” he had the experience of working with most of the actors of the project on stage, film and series, and said: I have experience of working with Hadi Hejazifar on the stage and we have a so-called dramatic, show-like and dramatistic look. . We were together with Mehtab Karamati, Elnaz Habibi, Hassan Pourshirazi and other friends many times in various works.
Farah Marzi continued: Fortunately, so far I have been able to record three different faces of Mehtab Karamati in my work file, and he gave a new life to our make-up with his brilliant performance in “Pituk”. The change of Hadi Hijazifar was not to change himself, but to get closer to the desired role in the film. Finally, we were able to reach a result that I hope is acceptable.
In the end, he stated: “Pituk” is among the works of independent cinema; A movie that does not have billboards in the city, nor its teasers are broadcasted on TV. I invite the audience who, if not, our presence is pointless and are our supporters and encouragers, to see this noble film, made by a young man with love, in the cinema. In this difficult time with all these heavenly and earthly calamities, lack of knowledge, lack of money and infidelity, we need to water the philosophy of love and not remove it.
