According to the foreign policy group of Fars news agency, the meeting of the foreign economic relations coordination headquarters on the topic of “the latest state of our country’s economic relations with the African continent” today (Sunday), November 15, was chaired by Mehdi Safari, deputy director of economic diplomacy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and with the presence of members of the headquarters composed of Managers of relevant institutions were held.
In this meeting, Safari emphasized the importance of the African continent in the development of Iran’s trade, and called attention to Africa one of the foreign policy priorities of the 13th government.
The Deputy Minister of Economic Diplomacy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced the holding of a meeting of the Joint Commission with South Africa, Tanzania, and Zimbabwe in the coming months and emphasized on balanced trade with the African continent and added: for the stability of trade with the African continent, it is necessary for exports to be balanced, which means that The figure of export and import should be balanced and equal. Therefore, in addition to exporting engineering services to Africa, it is necessary to try to provide the country’s domestic needs for agricultural products, livestock and mineral raw materials from the rich continent of Africa.
He also explained about the efforts to establish communication in the field of plant quarantine and create the necessary space for sustainable export of the country and added: the field of export activities in service sectors to the African continent is very ready, for example, Mauritius needs our fisheries and Iranian barges They can settle in Mauritius and do fishing activities for that country and earn profit. Also, we have been relatively successful in exporting engineering services to South Africa, but we can still take on more construction projects.
The Deputy Minister of Economic Diplomacy announced the readiness of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to hold a video conference of Iranian ambassadors in African countries with various ministries in order to gain detailed knowledge of the potentials of the destination countries and continued: great potentials in the energy, health and medical sectors, professional training for the personnel of the countries African and especially there is a work space for knowledge-based companies that can increase the export target of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the next two years.
The necessity of issuing engineering services, construction of dams and power plants and offshore farming, setting up shipping lines and direct air lines between Iran and African countries, obstacles to the implementation of offshore farming and the formation of an African headquarters were among the other issues that were discussed and exchanged in this meeting. And the previous approvals were followed up and those present in this meeting presented their discussions, solutions and suggestions regarding the issues raised.
