This is exactly the restriction that Apple also applies to editing messages in iMessage. However, iMessage shows the history of editing messages to users, while WhatsApp only pastes an “edited” tag on a user’s edited message. Telegram also displays such a label under the message. And another thing about WhatsApp is that the message editing feature only applies to text messages and you can’t edit photo captions, videos or documents.
