Alder Lake HX laptop processors will be available with more cores

Intel may offer desktop chips with modifications to high-end notebooks as Alder Lake HX laptop processors will likely be introduced with a higher number of cores.

It’s been a long time since the latest information was heard about Alder Lake full silicon with 8 powerful cores and 8 low-power cores planned for laptops, but a new revelation shows that this model is on its way. According to the post that Komachi_Ensaka The blue giant has apparently started distributing a test platform codenamed Alder Lake HX to its partners.

Experimental samples are labeled 8 + 8, which refers to the configuration of 8 cores with high performance and 8 cores with low power consumption. Alder Lake P / U / H laptop chips are currently limited to 14 cores. In addition, the HX extension is apparently a repeat of AMD, which will soon release the Ryzen 6000HX series. These models use open Zen 3+ Rembrandt chips designed for powerful gaming notebooks.

Of course, the Intel 8 + 8 configuration for laptops was revealed last year. This configuration is visible on a slide called S-BGA or H55 list. According to this slide, the 16-core Alder Lake mobile processor is in the 45-55 watt range.

A Core i9 12980HX or Core i9 12990HX model with 16 24-core cores is expected to be a more powerful example than the current Core i9 12900HK with 45 watts and 14 cores.

It is not clear at this time how many models will be released under the HX series and how much faster they are than the current H / HK series. Also, if the blue team uses desktop silicon for the HX series, the number of graphics units will be reduced to 32, which means that the 12,900HK will have three times more executive units in this regard.
