Alireza Mehran: I am not a stranger to the “baby-eating” atmosphere / Mohammad Kart’s acquaintance with different layers of society

“Alireza Mehran,” a theater director and actor, told a Fars cinema reporter about working with Mohammad Kart and the atmosphere of the film: “First of all, let me say that Mohammad is a good filmmaker.” He is both creative and managerial, and I think a good filmmaker is someone who has these two qualities at the same time. Regarding the atmosphere of the film, I would like to say that Mohammad Kart had made documentaries that were close to this film before he made Bacha Khor. The knowledge that these documentaries gave him greatly helped him to make this short film.

Mehran said about his acquaintance with the atmosphere that Mohammad Kart has shown in “Bacha Khor”: “We live in Tehran from the north to the south of the city with the people in the movie Bache Khor.” I lived and grew up in areas that are very close to the space that the film shows, and this life helped me a lot. In addition, because of my acting and directing in the theater, I played such roles a lot and I was no stranger to it.

The actor of the short film “Baby Eater” commented on the release of this film and other short films from platforms such as Filimo: “Playing short films from platforms is a very good thing.” We usually do not have a special place to screen these films. Only the work of short film directors was seen at festivals held in previous years, and ordinary people did not see them, and short film directors have become festival directors.

He added: “With the decision of these platforms, people became acquainted with short films, and many of them saw these films as” baby-eaters “and welcomed them.” I hope this trend will continue and we will see that these films are seen in a suitable context and young directors are introduced to Iranian cinema.
